What to do on Holiday in Tenerife

Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands, makes an excellent holiday destination for anyone interested in relaxing by the beach, exploring the island’s breath-taking landscape, or delving through the history of Tenerife in its many fabulous museums.

Many people choose to take their holidays in Tenerife because the weather promises to be beautiful all year round. This makes the island an ideal location for spending time at the beach. A couple of the more popular beach destinations include Playa de los Cristianos in the southern part of the island, and the Playa de las Teresitas in the north. Visitors to Tenerife’s beaches are also nearby local bars, restaurants, resorts, and shopping centres.

Another main attraction in Tenerife is Mount Teide, the island’s highest point located in the centre of Las Cañadas Natural Park. This still-active volcano is accessible by cable car, where visitors can take in its beauty. Permits are available for those who are interested in climbing to the top of the volcano, although these are limited. In 2007, Teide National Park was named an UNESCO World Heritage Site and remains protected.
